Individual therapy is like using a personal trainer, but for your soul. It helps us confront barriers to well-being, and increase positive feelings like compassion, self-esteem, love, courage, and peace. No matter the issues you choose to work on, your therapist will provide a safe space free from judgement.
Most of us know what we could do better in our relationship, but still we struggle to actually do it. Relationships strike to the core of who we are, who we fear we are, and how we feel about ourselves, so it's not surprising that they trigger intense feelings. The answer isn't about learning skills or techniques - instead we need to understand what gets in the way of us using those skills.
We forget that adolescents are in fact, children. As they transition to adulthood, it's natural for them to feel sad, angry, & overwhelmed.
Though it's a time of separation & independence, it occurs in the context of deep inter-dependence with others. We take a relational approach to therapy that creates safety & provides hope to adolescents and their families.
Therapy for Adolescents
We support LGBTQ clients, treating all individuals, couples, and families, with the dignity, respect, and affirmation they deserve. We embrace a positive view of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) identities (and their relationships) and we challenge the heteronormative and gender-binaristic assumptions often placed on them.
